Film and television music archives hold significant value in providing insights into the compositional process and the broader production dynamics of film and TV programs. This article reflects on the establishment and management of such an archive, drawing from the author's experiences in researching scores by Bernard Herrmann and developing the Trevor Jones Archive at the University of Leeds. Issues such as digitization, metadata acquisition, and copyright management are discussed, highlighting the challenges inherent in preserving and accessing such materials. The article emphasizes the importance of archives in understanding the technical and creative processes of scoring, underscoring the need for collaboration between composers, institutions, and researchers to facilitate scholarly inquiry.Downloads
